MANILA — The Philippines has demonstrated marked improvement in international education benchmarks, reversing a trend of poor performance that characterized assessments conducted in 2022.
According to the latest Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) results released in 2025, Filipino students now surpass 18 education systems in reading comprehension, 16 in mathematics, and 14 in science. The gains represent a substantial shift from the country's near-bottom rankings recorded just three years earlier.
The improvement reflects ongoing efforts by the Department of Education to enhance learning outcomes and instructional quality across the country's public school system. The results suggest that interventions and reforms implemented over the past three years have begun yielding measurable gains in student achievement across core academic subjects.
