Philippines deploys 166,000 personnel for Undas security operations

MANILA—The Philippine National Police (PNP) deployed 166,365 security and civilian personnel on Sunday to manage crowds and ensure public safety during All Saints' Day observances, one of the busiest periods for cemetery visits in the Philippines.

The deployment included 78,952 police personnel and 20,837 personnel from other government agencies, supplemented by civilian volunteers. The nationwide mobilization aimed to maintain order and provide immediate assistance at cemeteries and memorial parks as Filipino families gathered to honor their deceased.

The All Saints' Day period traditionally sees massive foot traffic at burial grounds and memorial sites, presenting security and logistical challenges for authorities. The coordinated deployment across multiple agencies reflects efforts to prevent accidents, manage traffic, and respond to emergencies during the holiday season.

The PNP emphasized its commitment to ensuring smooth and secure celebrations while enabling citizens to conduct their commemorative activities safely. Additional personnel were positioned at key locations to provide crowd management and first-aid assistance throughout the day.
