MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is preparing for the 2028 national and local elections by targeting an additional three million registered voters, officials announced.
The poll body will open voter registration from November 10, 2026, through July 30, 2027, providing a nine-month window for Filipinos to register. The extended registration period represents a significant push to boost voter participation ahead of the midterm elections scheduled for May 2028.
Comelec's voter registration drive aims to ensure broader electoral participation across the country. The commission has outlined plans to make the registration process accessible to citizens nationwide, with special arrangements for certain areas.
Registration in Naga City and Batanes will follow a separate schedule, according to Comelec officials, though specific dates for these jurisdictions have yet to be finalized. The commission is expected to release additional details about registration procedures and locations in the coming months.
