Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla has warned of organized extremist recruitment activities targeting young Filipinos on the online multiplayer gaming platform Roblox.

Remulla pointed to in-game chat functionalities as vectors for abuse, describing coordinated messaging from what he characterized as international groomers. "There are chat groups within the game where multiple individuals are encouraging minors toward extremism. The language being used is criminal in nature, with explicit attempts to incite teenagers to violence," he stated.

The warning comes as concerns mount globally about online safety for children on popular gaming platforms. Roblox, which boasts hundreds of millions of users worldwide, has previously faced scrutiny over moderation challenges and the need for stronger safeguards against predatory behavior.

The Interior Secretary's remarks underscore growing vigilance among Philippine authorities regarding online threats to youth. Officials have increasingly highlighted the risks posed by unmonitored digital spaces where minors interact with unknown users globally, particularly regarding radicalization and exploitation.
