Philippines labor department launches 24/7 hotline ahead of El Niño

MANILA — The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) unveiled a round-the-clock hotline service on Tuesday as part of its contingency measures ahead of the expected El Niño conditions. The 15/30 hotline will enable workers, employers and other stakeholders to report workplace concerns and labor-related violations across the country.

The hotline was formally launched during the department's flag-raising ceremony, signaling the agency's commitment to maintaining labor standards and worker protections during challenging weather conditions. Officials noted that the service aims to ensure rapid response to labor issues that may arise as El Niño approaches.

The 24/7 availability of the hotline is intended to provide immediate assistance to those experiencing workplace difficulties, particularly in sectors that may be affected by the anticipated dry weather conditions. The Dole emphasized that the service will help monitor compliance with labor standards during periods when operational disruptions are common.

The launch reflects the department's proactive approach to safeguarding worker welfare amid environmental challenges. Officials have urged employers and workers to utilize the reporting mechanism to address issues promptly and prevent potential labor disputes during the El Niño period.
