MANILA — The Philippine government would need to allocate at least P20 billion to install high-quality closed circuit television systems in every school nationwide, according to Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla.

Remulla outlined the financial requirements for equipping educational institutions with world-class CCTV infrastructure as part of broader security enhancement efforts. The massive undertaking would address growing concerns about school safety across the archipelago.

The DILG chief indicated that the funding burden would be shared among multiple government agencies, including the Philippine National Police and the Department of Education, rather than shouldered by a single entity.

The proposal reflects government priorities to strengthen security measures in educational facilities, with proponents arguing that comprehensive surveillance systems could help deter criminal activity and provide crucial evidence in investigations.
