MANILA — The Philippines has secured a notable position in global mental health rankings for young adults, placing sixth out of 84 countries assessed in a comprehensive international study. The ranking reflects a Mind Health Quotient (MHQ) score of 59 for Filipinos aged 18 to 34, signaling relatively strong mental health outcomes in this demographic segment.
The assessment analyzed data from the Global Mind Health in 2025 Report, compiled by Sapien Labs, a Washington-based nonprofit organization specializing in mental health research. The MHQ serves as a standardized metric for evaluating mental health status across diverse populations and geographical regions.
The sixth-place finish positions the Philippines ahead of most nations globally in supporting the mental wellbeing of its young adult population. The metric takes into account various psychological and emotional factors that contribute to overall mental health resilience and functioning among individuals in the 18-34 age bracket.
The findings underscore the importance of continued investment in mental health services and awareness programs targeting young adults in the Philippines, as organizations and policymakers seek to maintain and improve upon current mental health outcomes in the country.
