Energy Secretary Sharon Garin provided the update during recent legislative proceedings, revealing the significant gap between the penalty assessed and actual funds recovered. The low collection rate underscores ongoing challenges in enforcing environmental compliance across the energy sector.

The penalty was levied against the solar energy company over alleged violations. However, details regarding the specific compliance failures and timelines for full payment remain unclear. The matter has drawn attention from lawmakers including Akbayan party-list Representative Chel Diokno, who raised the issue during congressional deliberations.
