Philippines reports nearly 1,500 communist insurgents neutralized in 2026

MANILA — The National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-Elcac) reported Wednesday that counter-insurgency operations have neutralized nearly 1,500 members of the Communist Terrorist Group across the country in 2026.

Executive Director Danilo Pamonag presented the figures to President Ferdinand Marcos during the task force's 10th executive committee meeting held at Malacañang. The briefing highlighted operational gains achieved by the NTF-Elcac in its mandate to suppress communist armed activities nationwide.

The neutralization figure represents a significant portion of the armed group's personnel strength and underscores the intensity of military and police operations directed against the insurgency throughout the year.

The NTF-Elcac, which coordinates government efforts against communist armed conflict, regularly updates the executive committee on its progress in addressing the decades-long internal security threat.
