Philippines set to complete four-decade farm distribution program by 2027
The Department of Agrarian Reform is nearing completion of its massive land distribution initiative, with officials projecting the remaining parcels will be allocated to landless farmers within the next three years.

MANILA – The Philippine Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) expects to finish distributing farmland under its landmark agrarian reform program by 2027, officials announced Thursday. Agrarian Reform Secretary Conrado Estrella III said approximately 20,000 hectares remain to be allocated from the 5.4 million hectare target established under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform law, which has been in effect for nearly four decades. The completion of the distribution would mark a significant milestone for one of Southeast Asia's longest-running land reform initiatives. The DAR has prioritized accelerating the allocation process to benefit remaining landless tillers who have been waiting for parcels under the program. Budget allocations and land surveys have been intensified to support the projected timeline, according to departmental statements.
