Philippines suspends in-person classes through Halloween weekend

In-person classes have been suspended in multiple Philippine locations from Thursday, October 29, through Saturday, October 31, ahead of the All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day observances, commonly known as Undas.

Baguio City has implemented a comprehensive in-person class suspension across all levels in both public and private educational institutions. The suspension coincides with reduced work schedules in government offices, which will shift to half-day operations beginning Friday afternoon at 12 p.m.

The timing of the suspensions reflects efforts to accommodate holiday travel patterns and observances associated with Undas, when many Filipinos visit cemeteries and hold family gatherings. Educational authorities across affected regions have coordinated the class cancellations to minimize disruption to the academic calendar while allowing communities to participate in traditional celebrations.

Schools in suspended areas are expected to resume normal in-person operations on Monday, November 2, pending any further announcements from local government units or the Department of Education.
