MANILA — Proposed amendments to the Philippines' free college program would expand access and support mechanisms for more students pursuing tertiary education, according to House Speaker Faustino "Bojie" G. Dy III.
The revisions to the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act aim to increase enrollment opportunities for Filipino youth in both college and technical-vocational training programs. Dy emphasized that the expanded framework would not only facilitate entry into these educational pathways but also provide students with the necessary support systems to complete their studies.
The measure has garnered backing from senior government officials, including President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Senate President Sherwin T. Gatchalian, reflecting broad legislative support for enhancing tertiary education accessibility across the country.
