Vice Chairwoman of the Phu Quoc Special Zone People's Committee Nguyen Thi Kim Loan said the event provides a platform for Vietnamese and South Korean citizens to interact, experience and appreciate each other's cultural heritage. The initiative is designed to foster mutual understanding, respect and lasting friendship between the two nations, she added at the opening ceremony.
The showcase on the island destination features exhibitions, performances and cultural displays representing both countries' artistic traditions and contemporary creativity. Organisers said the event reflects growing cultural ties between Vietnam and South Korea, which have expanded significantly in recent years across tourism, entertainment and educational sectors.
The gathering is part of broader cultural exchange initiatives between the two countries. Earlier this year, Tay Ninh province and South Korea's Chungcheongnam Province launched a youth volunteer and cultural exchange programme. Meanwhile, the central city of Hue is preparing to host Vietnam – RoK Cultural Day 2025 in late September, further cementing bilateral cultural cooperation.
Official statistics show South Korean visitors rank among the top international tourists to Vietnam, while Vietnamese communities in South Korea continue to grow. Cultural events like these underscore efforts by both governments to strengthen people-to-people diplomacy alongside traditional state-level relations.
