Phu Quoc intensifies infrastructure push ahead of APEC 2027 summit

Phu Quoc authorities are implementing a comprehensive strategy to resolve infrastructure bottlenecks and enhance service delivery ahead of the APEC 2027 meeting. Dinh Van Noi, Deputy Secretary of the An Giang provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Phu Quoc special zone Party Committee, announced the establishment of an official information portal designed to collect and respond to public feedback systematically.

The initiative includes direct hotlines connecting local leaders with businesses and residents, enabling stakeholders to escalate concerns and seek timely resolution. This two-pronged approach aims to streamline communication between authorities and the private sector while identifying critical infrastructure gaps requiring immediate attention.

The preparations come as Phu Quoc experiences significant economic momentum. Recent data shows card payment transactions surged 160 percent, underscoring the island's growing commercial activity and consumer spending. The destination has also gained international recognition, receiving the Asia's Best Island designation in Condé Nast Traveler's 2026 Readers' Choice Awards.

Planning for Phu Quoc International Airport has been adjusted to accommodate the anticipated influx of visitors and delegates attending APEC 2027. Officials are coordinating upgrades across multiple sectors, including transportation, accommodation, and digital infrastructure, to ensure the special zone can effectively host the region's premier economic forum.
