Phu Tho launches $42 million social housing development

Construction has begun on a $42 million social housing project in Phu Tho province, developed by a consortium comprising An Phu Company Ltd and Eco Fire Company Ltd. The development will be built across more than 13,000 square meters within the Dinh Trung Central Park urban area in Vinh Phuc ward, with completion targeted for the first quarter of 2028.

The project represents the 22nd social housing initiative to break ground in Phu Tho to date, reflecting the province's commitment to expanding affordable residential stock. The development is part of a broader national strategy to address housing affordability and promote sustainable urban growth.

Vietnam's push to expand social and rental housing comes as officials work to stabilize apartment prices across the country. Policymakers have increasingly emphasized the importance of affordable rental housing in creating a balanced property market that meets the needs of lower and middle-income residents.

The initiative aligns with growing legislative attention to measures aimed at developing rental housing markets. Officials have stressed that expanding access to affordable residential options is essential for supporting sustainable urban development and improving housing security for Vietnamese households.
