Pig farming shipments from Sarawak to Selangor follow strict protocols

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Chan Foong Hin has dismissed concerns that pig farming livestock transfers from Sarawak to Selangor adversely affect hygiene conditions at Port Klang. The official stated that characterising the operation as detrimental to the port's cleanliness standards is unfounded.

The shipments of pig farming stock are conducted in accordance with established standard operating procedures, according to the ministry. Chan's remarks come as the livestock transport initiative continues between the two states, with operations maintained under regulatory oversight.

The clarification addresses public concerns regarding the environmental and sanitary implications of importing farming livestock through one of Malaysia's busiest ports. The ministry has emphasised that all movements of agricultural products and livestock adhere to stringent protocols designed to maintain public health and port operations standards.

The transport arrangement between Sarawak and Selangor forms part of the country's broader agricultural supply chain management, with officials maintaining that operations pose no threat to existing infrastructure or safety protocols at Port Klang.
