Pipe leak disrupts water supply across three Kelantan districts

KOTA BHARU — Water supply disruptions have affected residents across three districts in Kelantan following a pipe leak at the Merbau Chondong Water Treatment Plant in Machang. The rupture has significantly reduced the plant's production capacity, prompting Air Kelantan to issue advisories to affected consumers.
The water utility confirmed that the fault has impacted service to Machang, Pasir Puteh and parts of Kota Bharu Selatan. Approximately 34,000 customer accounts are experiencing reduced water pressure or intermittent supply as a result of the incident.
Repair operations are underway at the treatment facility as Air Kelantan works to restore normal service levels. The utility has advised consumers to use water sparingly during the disruption period and has urged residents to store water for essential needs.
No timeline for full restoration of service has been announced. Air Kelantan said it will provide updates as repair work progresses.
