Pitbull attack leaves six-month-old infant critically injured in Haryana

A six-month-old infant is undergoing treatment at a private medical facility after sustaining severe injuries from a pitbull attack in Sonipat's Sikka Colony on Wednesday. According to preliminary reports, the dog knocked the child to the ground before repeatedly biting him as he lay vulnerable.
The infant's aunt, who was accompanying the child through the colony lane at the time of the attack, attempted to intervene and shield the infant from further harm. In her efforts to rescue the child, the woman sustained injuries herself.
Neighbors and family members rushed the critically injured infant to a nearby medical facility before arranging his referral to the Rohtak Post Graduate Institute (PGI) for advanced trauma care. Medical officials at the institute have begun treatment for the child's severe bite wounds and injuries sustained during the attack.
The incident has triggered widespread concern among residents of the residential colony regarding the presence of large, potentially dangerous dog breeds in densely populated residential areas. Local authorities have been informed of the attack, though no formal statement on action against the animal's owner has been issued as of yet.
