PITX bus driver tests positive in drug screening ahead of Undas

MANILA, Philippines—Authorities at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) flagged a bus driver following a preliminary positive result in drug screening on Wednesday, underscoring intensified safety measures ahead of the extended Undas holiday period.

The driver, who was assigned to operate a bus destined for the Bicol region, underwent the screening as part of routine protocols being enforced across major transport terminals. Following the initial positive result, the driver was referred for confirmatory testing to determine the presence of controlled substances.

The screening initiative reflects efforts by transportation and law enforcement authorities to enhance road safety during peak travel seasons when millions of Filipinos journey to provincial destinations to observe All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day traditions. Terminal officials have implemented stricter drug testing procedures to ensure that drivers operating inter-provincial routes meet required safety standards.

The results of the confirmatory test will determine what administrative or legal actions, if any, may be taken against the driver. PITX management has not released additional details regarding the ongoing investigation.
