PKR accuses Umno of misrepresenting rural road project delays
PKR has pushed back against what it characterises as misleading claims by Umno regarding rural road development initiatives, clarifying that deferring acceptance letters is distinct from project cancellation.

PKR deputy secretary-general Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad has rejected suggestions that delays in rural road projects amount to cancellations, urging the opposition to refrain from public misrepresentation on the matter.
Saifuddin drew a distinction between deferring letters of acceptance for rural road initiatives and outright cancellation of rural development work, signalling that projects remain under review rather than permanently shelved.
The clarification comes amid ongoing political discourse over the government's handling of infrastructure development in rural areas, a key concern for Malaysia's farming communities and remote settlements.
The PKR official's remarks underscore mounting tensions between coalition partners and opposition lawmakers over the characterisation of administrative delays affecting regional development programmes. Rural road connectivity remains a significant electoral issue across Malaysia's interior regions.
