PKR president Adly Zahari has yet to match the political magnetism of his predecessor Anwar Ibrahim, according to political analyst Tawfik Yaakub, who cautioned that the opposition coalition faces headwinds in rallying voter support.
Yaakub noted that the Pakatan Harapan alliance must strengthen internal cohesion and resolve outstanding disagreements over seat allocations if it hopes to effectively challenge the ruling government. The analyst stressed that coordination among coalition partners remains uneven, potentially undermining their electoral prospects.
To regain momentum, Yaakub said Pakatan Harapan must present a unified organisational structure and finalise contentious seat-sharing negotiations. The coalition also needs to articulate a coherent policy agenda that resonates with voters beyond its traditional base.
The comments highlight growing concerns within opposition circles about the coalition's readiness for electoral competition. Political observers have noted that Adly's tenure as PKR president has drawn comparisons to Anwar's more assertive leadership style, raising questions about the party's direction and influence within the broader Pakatan Harapan framework.
Analysts suggest the opposition coalition must move quickly to consolidate its position and demonstrate unity to voters increasingly uncertain about alternative governance options.
