PKR leader urges allies to criticise government, not attack Anwar

Hassan Karim said that while scrutiny of government policies was acceptable, persistent personal attacks on the prime minister risked damaging PKR's standing and cohesion within the broader opposition coalition.

The remarks appear directed at members of the so-called "Gang of Four," a group of former party figures who have been vocal critics of Anwar's leadership and government decisions.

Karim stressed the importance of distinguishing between legitimate political criticism and attacks that target individuals rather than policy positions. He suggested that undermining Anwar specifically could prove counterproductive for PKR's long-term interests, particularly as the party seeks to consolidate its position within Pakatan Harapan.

The intervention reflects ongoing tensions within the coalition over strategy and messaging, with different factions offering competing visions for how to effectively challenge the government on substantive issues while maintaining party unity.

PKR officials have previously called for internal discipline to prevent public disputes from eroding party credibility ahead of future electoral contests.
