PKR MP backs DAP call for equal political funding legislation

The Tebrau MP from Parti Keadilan Rakyat has joined the Democratic Action Party in advocating for legislative measures to guarantee fair distribution of state resources among parliamentary representatives regardless of party affiliation.

The development represents a notable alignment within the opposition, as partners in the Pakatan Harapan coalition move toward consensus on the contentious issue of political financing. DAP has long maintained that current allocation mechanisms disadvantage opposition lawmakers and their constituents.

A Perikatan Nasional leader recently challenged PKR and Amanah representatives to publicly declare their stances on the proposed funding equality framework, intensifying scrutiny of coalition unity on governance matters.

The initiative seeks to establish transparent criteria for parliamentary fund allocation, moving away from practices critics argue disproportionately benefit ruling coalition members. Supporters contend such legislation would strengthen democratic institutions and ensure constituents across all party lines receive equitable service.
