PKR sets sights on 8-9 seats in Melaka state election

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has outlined an ambitious campaign strategy for the forthcoming Melaka state election, aiming to secure between 8 and 9 seats across the state legislature. The party's targeted constituencies span a mix of urban centres and semi-rural areas, reflecting a deliberate effort to broaden its political base in the southern state.

Among the priority seats identified by PKR are Machap, Ayer Keroh and Rembia, which collectively represent significant voter populations across Melaka. The selection of these constituencies demonstrates the party's focus on areas with strong opposition presence and receptive electorates.

The party's seat allocation strategy is part of broader coalition arrangements ahead of the election, as Malaysian opposition and government-aligned parties continue to finalise their contest positions. PKR's targeted performance would represent a meaningful presence in the 36-seat Melaka state assembly.

The announcement comes amid ongoing political manoeuvring in Melaka, where coalition partners have been negotiating seat distributions to maximise combined electoral performance while avoiding multi-cornered contests that could fragment opposition votes.
