The PKR Youth chief has launched a scathing attack on PAS leadership over what he characterised as a misleading pitch regarding a Comprehensive Strategic Alliance (CSA), reminding the party of its prior commitment to Pakatan Harapan.
The PKR official underscored that PAS was an integral member of the Pakatan Harapan government when it entered into a comparable strategic agreement with the opposition coalition in 2021. He questioned the consistency of PAS's current position, suggesting that the party's renewed interest in such alliances lacked credibility given its previous undertakings.
The remarks represent escalating tensions between the two parties ahead of ongoing political negotiations. PKR has sought to highlight what it views as duplicitous messaging from PAS, using the party's prior contractual obligations as evidence of shifting positions and unreliable commitments.
The political sparring reflects deeper divisions within Malaysia's opposition and government blocs, with various coalitions attempting to secure advantageous positioning through strategic partnerships. Both PAS and PKR have maintained competing claims regarding the legitimacy and necessity of different political alliances in the current landscape.
