Ceylon Green Life Plantation (Pvt) Ltd has formally petitioned the President's office for intervention following the abrupt suspension of its banking operations. The company states that the unexpected freeze has created a humanitarian crisis affecting more than 1,000 farming families and over 4,000 employees who depend on regular income and operational funds.
The plantation company's Chief Executive Officer submitted a special letter to the President's Secretary highlighting the urgent nature of the situation. According to the appeal, the account suspension occurred without prior notification or opportunity for the company to address any underlying issues that may have prompted the action.
The suspension has halted the company's ability to pay wages, manage operational expenses, and support the livelihoods of workers and contracted farming families. The firm has stressed the humanitarian dimensions of the crisis, arguing that immediate relief measures are necessary to prevent widespread economic hardship among affected communities.
The appeal underscores broader concerns about banking procedures and their impact on businesses operating in the agricultural sector. The company's request for presidential intervention reflects the gravity of the situation and the limited recourse available through conventional channels to address the account freeze.
