MANILA — The Philippines' largest telecommunications company said it has fully restored internet connectivity across the nation after addressing damage to a critical submarine cable linking the country with Singapore.

PLDT announced that services returned to normal at 4:30 p.m. Sunday following the cable cut, which had disrupted internet connectivity nationwide. The company moved quickly to restore operations after the infrastructure damage was detected.

Submarine cables form the backbone of international data transmission in Southeast Asia, carrying the vast majority of cross-border internet traffic. Disruptions to these cables can significantly impact connectivity across multiple countries and affect businesses, government services, and consumers relying on stable internet access.

The restoration comes after what PLDT described as a brief but significant outage affecting customers throughout the Philippines. The company did not provide additional details regarding the cause of the cable damage or the extent of service disruption prior to restoration efforts.
