PLM accepts 3,000 students from 70,000 applicants for 2026-2027

MANILA — The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) will admit just 3,000 students from its pool of over 70,000 applicants for academic year 2026-2027, university president Lawyer Domingo Reyes Jr. announced Monday during ceremonies at Manila City Hall.
Reyes noted that while approximately 43,000 applicants were able to sit for the university's entrance examination, the institution's limited capacity resulted in the highly competitive acceptance rate. The announcement underscores the continued demand for affordable higher education options in the capital region, where PLM remains a popular choice for students seeking quality education at minimal cost.
The university's constrained enrollment reflects broader challenges facing Philippine state universities, which face persistent funding limitations and infrastructure constraints even as demand for tertiary education continues to surge across the archipelago.
Admitted students are expected to begin their studies at the beginning of the 2026-2027 academic term, pending completion of enrollment procedures and other university requirements.
