PLUS prepares for surge as 2.2 million vehicles expected during holidays
Malaysia's expressway operator is ramping up preparations ahead of the National Day and school holiday period, anticipating a significant increase in traffic volumes across its network.

KUALA LUMPUR — PLUS Malaysia Berhad said it is bracing for heightened traffic demand during the upcoming National Day celebrations and school holidays, projecting that approximately 2.2 million vehicles will traverse its expressway network during the peak travel period.
The expressway operator has implemented contingency measures to manage the anticipated surge, including enhanced traffic monitoring systems and additional personnel deployment at toll plazas and service stations. PLUS officials have advised motorists to plan their journeys in advance and consider traveling during off-peak hours to avoid congestion.
The preparation comes as Malaysian families traditionally undertake road trips during festive periods and school breaks, creating substantial pressure on major highway routes. PLUS operates one of the region's largest expressway networks, serving as a critical transportation artery linking major urban centres and residential areas.
Motor haulers and commercial operators have also been encouraged to coordinate their logistics schedules with PLUS to minimize disruptions. The operator has urged all road users to adhere to traffic regulations and maintain safe driving practices during the busy season to prevent accidents and ensure smooth traffic flow across the network.
