Gandhi Jayanti, observed annually on October 2nd, marks the birth of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, whose philosophy of non-violence and civil disobedience shaped India's independence movement and influenced freedom struggles across the world.

The event at the Prime Minister's official residence served as a platform to reflect on Gandhi's enduring legacy and his contributions to promoting peace, justice, and democratic values in the region.

The participation of Sri Lanka's top political leadership alongside India's diplomatic representative demonstrated the continued respect accorded to Gandhi's teachings in both nations and the importance placed on maintaining bilateral relations grounded in shared democratic values.
