PM Anwar joins MIC-MIED Deepavali celebration with nearly 3,000 guests

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim marked the Deepavali season by attending a joint open house organised by the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) and the Malaysian Indian Entrepreneurs Development (MIED) organisation. The event drew approximately 3,000 guests, reflecting strong community participation in the festival celebrations.

MIC president SA Vigneswaran, who also chairs MIED, welcomed the Prime Minister at the gathering. The occasion provided an opportunity for community leaders and members to celebrate the Festival of Lights together, reinforcing social cohesion during the festive season.

The Prime Minister's attendance underscored the government's commitment to fostering interfaith and inter-community harmony during major cultural celebrations. Deepavali holds significant importance in Malaysia's multicultural calendar, and such high-level participation demonstrates recognition of its cultural significance.

The open house format facilitated informal interactions between political leadership and community members, allowing discussions on issues of mutual concern to the Indian Malaysian community. Such platforms have traditionally served as venues for strengthening bonds between government and grassroots communities.
