Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has emphasised the urgency of accelerating two significant flood mitigation projects in the Klang Valley, with a combined cost approaching RM700 million. The initiatives targeting Sungai Buloh and Sungai Damansara are designed to strengthen the region's defences against future flooding events that have historically impacted the area.
Anwar stressed that the projects must proceed without delay to minimise the risk of recurrent flooding. The emphasis on swift execution reflects growing concerns over flood vulnerability in the densely populated Klang Valley region, which has experienced multiple flooding incidents in recent years.
The two flood mitigation schemes are part of broader infrastructure efforts to enhance water management and disaster resilience in Selangor. Accelerating these projects is expected to provide residents and businesses with greater protection during the monsoon seasons and extreme weather events.
The Prime Minister's directive underscores the government's commitment to prioritising public safety and reducing economic losses from natural disasters in the region.
