KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 16 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim marked Malaysia Day on Tuesday by emphasising the importance of sustained unity among the nation's diverse population, drawing attention to the foundational principles that established the federation.
In his address, Anwar characterised Malaysia Day as a significant occasion for citizens to reflect on the covenant binding the government and the people, underscoring that this mutual commitment remains central to national stability and progress.
The Prime Minister's remarks came as Malaysia observed the annual commemoration of the formation of the Malaysian federation on September 16, 1963, when Malaya, Singapore, Sabah, and Sarawak united to create the modern nation-state.
