KUALA LUMPUR — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has urged Muslims to embrace artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge technologies while maintaining their spiritual and cultural foundations, warning against technological isolation that could disadvantage the community economically and socially.
Anwar emphasised that adoption of AI and digital innovations is essential for Muslims to remain relevant in an increasingly technology-driven world. He cautioned that resistance to technological progress could widen development gaps and limit opportunities for the Muslim world.
The Prime Minister stressed that technological advancement need not conflict with Islamic principles and heritage. He advocated for a balanced approach where communities leverage modern tools and innovations while upholding their faith-based values and traditional practices.
Anwar's remarks reflect Malaysia's broader push to position itself as a regional technology hub while maintaining its identity as a Muslim-majority nation. The government has previously outlined strategies to integrate digital transformation across sectors including finance, healthcare, and education.
