PM directs MACC to probe fertiliser supply delays affecting rice farmers

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has instructed the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to launch a comprehensive investigation into delays affecting fertiliser supplies to padi farmers across the country.

The move comes as rice cultivators continue to face difficulties in obtaining adequate fertiliser stocks for their crops. Anwar's directive signals the government's determination to address bottlenecks in the agricultural supply chain that have impacted farmer productivity and livelihoods.

The MACC investigation will focus on identifying the root causes of the distribution delays and scrutinising the companies involved in fertiliser supply operations. Officials aim to establish accountability and determine whether any irregularities or misconduct contributed to the supply disruptions.

The Prime Minister's intervention underscores government commitment to safeguarding the interests of rice farmers, a significant constituency in Malaysia's agricultural sector.
