Sharad Pawar, the septuagenarian leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) faction, was discharged from Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune on Tuesday following his admission on Monday. The NCP (SP) chief had sought medical attention after experiencing a persistent cough and pleuritic chest pain.
During his hospitalisation, Pawar underwent medical evaluation and treatment at the private healthcare facility. His condition improved sufficiently to warrant discharge within 24 hours of admission, medical sources indicated.
Prime Minister Modi reached out to Pawar following his discharge, according to reports. During the conversation, Modi advised the political veteran to prioritise rest and recovery during the coming days, reflecting concerns about his health given his advanced age and continued political commitments.
The incident marks the latest health-related development for Pawar, 83, who continues to lead his faction of the NCP following the party's split in 2023. The former chief minister of Maharashtra has maintained an active political schedule despite his age.
