Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally opened the Reserve Bank of India's new data centre and cybersecurity training institute in Jatni, Odisha, marking a significant addition to the country's financial infrastructure. The facility, constructed at an investment of around ₹170 crore, comprises four data centres designed to support the banking system's digital operations.
The establishment of the data centre comes as India continues to prioritise the modernisation and security of its financial systems. The four-centre complex is expected to provide redundancy and enhanced reliability for critical banking services, ensuring continuous operations even during emergencies or system failures.
In addition to the data processing capabilities, the institute will focus on cybersecurity training and skill development. The facility aims to build capacity among banking professionals and cybersecurity personnel to counter evolving threats to India's digital financial ecosystem.

Officials expect the centre to play a crucial role in supporting the Reserve Bank's regulatory and operational functions across the country.
