Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday released the 24th instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme, channeling over ₹18,690 crore to more than 9.34 crore farmers nationwide. Odisha's 35.38 lakh beneficiary farmers received ₹3,000 crore as part of the direct benefit transfer.

The funds were transferred directly into beneficiary bank accounts across the country through digital channels in a move aimed at strengthening agricultural support systems. Modi announced the instalment release from Banaskantha in Gujarat, marking another milestone in the government's ongoing farmer welfare initiative.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi participated virtually in the announcement from Bhubaneswar, addressing farmers at a state-level event designated as 'PM-Kisan Utsav'. Majhi characterized the instalment as evidence of the state and central governments' commitment to farmer empowerment and economic welfare.
"The welfare and empowerment of farmers remains the core commitment of our government," Majhi said in remarks following the announcement. The direct benefit transfer mechanism ensures funds reach farmers' accounts swiftly, bypassing intermediaries and reducing transaction time.
The PM-KISAN scheme, initiated to provide direct financial support to agricultural households, has expanded significantly since its inception. The 24th instalment underscores the programme's continued reach across Indian states, with Odisha consistently among the scheme's major beneficiary states.
