PM to launch nationwide dengue prevention drive this Saturday

The nationwide dengue prevention campaign will be formally launched by the Prime Minister on Saturday as part of coordinated efforts to reduce disease transmission across Bangladesh. The initiative aims to mobilize communities, health workers, and local authorities in a unified approach to dengue control.

The campaign is expected to include awareness programs, vector control measures, and public education on dengue prevention practices. Citizens will be encouraged to eliminate breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes, which transmit the virus, through regular cleaning of water containers and proper waste management in homes and communities.

Dengue remains a recurring public health challenge in Bangladesh, particularly during monsoon and post-monsoon months when mosquito populations surge. Health officials have indicated that early prevention efforts and community participation are critical to limiting seasonal outbreaks and reducing hospitalizations.

The launch event will signal the government's commitment to strengthening disease surveillance systems and coordinating response efforts among health departments, municipal authorities, and non-governmental organizations. Local administrations across all divisions are expected to activate ground-level implementation of the campaign's preventive measures.
