The Prime Minister emphasised that the democratic system established through the nation's struggle for independence must be preserved and strengthened for future generations. She stressed that any political activity designed to weaken democratic institutions would constitute a betrayal of those who shed blood during the 1971 Liberation War and the mass uprising of July 2024.
Speaking on the matter, Sheikh Hasina underscored the importance of maintaining constitutional democracy and rule of law. She stated that the gains achieved through popular uprisings and war of independence cannot be allowed to be undermined by political forces seeking to consolidate power outside democratic frameworks.
The Prime Minister's remarks come amid ongoing political tensions in the country. She reiterated the government's commitment to democratic governance while warning that any attempt to establish autocratic rule would negate the principles for which countless Bangladeshis sacrificed their lives.
Sheikh Hasina called on all political stakeholders to respect democratic norms and work within constitutional provisions to advance their agendas. She asserted that the spirit of the Liberation War and recent popular movements must continue to guide the nation's political trajectory.
