Prime Minister Lawrence Wong is set to travel to Brunei to commemorate half a century of defence ties between Singapore and the sultanate, underscoring the enduring strategic partnership between the two Southeast Asian neighbours.
During the visit, Wong and Brunei's leadership will participate in a joint military parade, a symbolic display of the close operational relationship maintained by the two countries' armed forces. The parade will showcase the coordination and interoperability developed through decades of joint exercises and defence collaboration.
A centrepiece of the visit will be the opening of a dedicated gallery documenting the evolution of Singapore-Brunei defence relations. The exhibition is designed to highlight pivotal agreements, joint initiatives, and operational milestones that have shaped the bilateral security partnership since its formal establishment.
The visit reflects Singapore's commitment to strengthening ties with fellow ASEAN members and maintaining stability in the region. Regular high-level exchanges between Singapore and Brunei have reinforced cooperation on maritime security, training programmes, and broader regional defence matters, positioning the two nations as key partners in maintaining regional peace and security.
