The visit comes amid preparations by both nations to commemorate a significant milestone in their defence relationship. Singapore and Brunei are poised to mark 50 years of defence cooperation in 2026, underscoring the depth and durability of their security partnership.
The two countries have maintained close ties since Brunei's independence, with regular high-level exchanges and collaborative initiatives spanning multiple domains. Defence cooperation has been a cornerstone of bilateral relations, with both nations committed to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
During his time in Brunei, PM Wong is expected to reaffirm Singapore's commitment to strengthening ties with its neighbours and explore new opportunities for partnership that serve the mutual interests of both populations.
