PN demands public disclosure of CSA funding agreement terms

KUALA LUMPUR — Perikatan Nasional chief whip Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan has demanded that the government make public the financial terms of its confidence and supply arrangement, arguing that taxpayers deserve the same level of transparency afforded during previous political agreements.

Takiyuddin's call echoes earlier demands from opposition lawmakers and civil society groups for greater accountability regarding the terms under which PN provides parliamentary support to the current administration. He specifically referenced the 2021 memorandum of understanding, which was released publicly and outlined the framework for political cooperation.

The CSA arrangement has been a focal point of political scrutiny since its inception, with questions raised about its fiscal implications and conditions. By drawing parallels to the 2021 MoU, Takiyuddin suggested that existing precedent supports full public disclosure of such agreements.

The demand underscores ongoing tensions within Malaysia's coalition politics, where supply agreements have become increasingly common tools for maintaining parliamentary majorities. Political analysts note that transparency in such arrangements is crucial for public understanding of governance arrangements and fiscal commitments.
