Perikatan Nasional's leadership has dismissed concerns that the Registrar of Societies' decision to deregister the coalition will weaken public backing. The coalition chair questioned the timing of the regulatory action ahead of the Malacca state election.

The leadership of Perikatan Nasional has pushed back against suggestions that deregistration by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) will undermine the coalition's electoral prospects, arguing that popular support transcends formal organizational status.
Coalition chair Samsuri Mokhtar characterized the ROS action as poorly timed, particularly given its proximity to the upcoming Malacca state polls. He suggested the regulatory decision carried political overtones inconsistent with standard administrative procedure.
"The deregistration will not extinguish the people's support for us," Samsuri stated, emphasizing that the coalition's grassroots backing remained intact regardless of the ROS determination.
The deregistration marks a significant development for Perikatan Nasional, which has positioned itself as a major political force in recent Malaysian politics. The coalition's leadership indicated it would continue mobilizing supporters in the Malacca contest despite the regulatory setback.
The timing of the ROS decision has become a focal point of discussion within political circles, with observers noting its proximity to the state election campaign.
