PN to challenge party registration cancellation, seeks stay order

Perikatan Nasional will mount a legal challenge against the decision by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to cancel the coalition's registration, party secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said. The announcement comes just two days before the court is scheduled to hear the coalition's application for a stay of execution on the earlier ROS action. Takiyuddin indicated that PN views the cancellation as improper and intends to contest it through the courts. The party is seeking to have the cancellation suspended while legal proceedings unfold. The timing of the court hearing is seen as critical, as a stay order could prevent the immediate effect of the registration cancellation while PN pursues its challenge. PN's move reflects mounting tension between the coalition and the regulatory authority overseeing political party registrations in Malaysia.
