PN whip pushes for CSA transparency, citing 2021 precedent

Takiyuddin Hassan, the PN whip, has called for the government to apply the same level of transparency used in the 2021 MOU to the current CSA negotiations. According to Takiyuddin, the earlier agreement did not include confidentiality clauses that would prevent public scrutiny, establishing a precedent for openness in similar deals.

The PN legislator's demand comes as discussions surrounding the CSA continue to attract scrutiny from opposition lawmakers. Takiyuddin argued that if the 2021 MOU was disclosed without confidentiality restrictions, there is no justification for withholding similar information from the current agreement.

The push for transparency reflects ongoing tensions between the government and opposition over parliamentary oversight of significant policy agreements. PN has indicated that lawmakers should have access to the full terms of such arrangements to enable proper legislative scrutiny.

Government officials have not immediately responded to the demand for complete CSA disclosure. The issue highlights broader debates in Malaysia's parliament over the balance between government confidentiality and public accountability in major policy commitments.
