PNB assures legitimate claims will be honoured amid fund misappropriation probe

Punjab National Bank on Tuesday said it would ensure all legitimate claims by affected customers are addressed, even as a First Information Report was registered in connection with a fund misappropriation case at its Greater Noida branch. The bank stated that it was committed to protecting customer interests while the investigation proceeded.

In a statement, PNB said it was extending complete cooperation to the concerned authorities and taking necessary measures to address the grievances of affected customers. The bank did not provide specifics about the quantum of funds involved or the number of customers impacted by the alleged misappropriation.

The Greater Noida police registered the FIR following complaints about irregularities at the branch. The bank said it had initiated an internal review to ascertain the full extent of the matter and to strengthen its internal controls to prevent similar incidents in future.

PNB assured customers that the bank remained committed to maintaining the highest standards of operational integrity and would continue to work with regulatory authorities throughout the investigation. The bank also said affected customers could approach their nearest branch or contact the customer grievance redressal mechanism for assistance.
