PNP boosts road patrols as flooding leaves motorists stranded

MANILA—The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced an intensified deployment across key roads and expressways on Tuesday as flooding and congestion continued to disrupt travel across the country.
Under the expanded operation, PNP personnel will increase monitoring and assistance efforts to help motorists navigate water-logged routes and traffic bottlenecks. The enhanced response comes as the police force recognizes the vulnerability of drivers stranded on flooded roads without adequate support.
"Motorists are typically left on their own when dealing with flooded roads. We cannot allow that to continue," said PNP Chief Gen. Melencio Nartatez Jr. in a statement. The directive reflects a commitment to providing immediate roadside assistance and ensuring public safety during weather-related emergencies.
The PNP's reinforced operations include real-time road monitoring and rapid response teams positioned at flood-prone areas. Officials are urging the public to exercise caution on affected routes and to seek assistance from uniformed personnel stationed along major thoroughfares.
