The Philippine National Police (PNP) has expressed strong condemnation following the killing of Adrian "Golden Boy" Loterte, a broadcaster with RBN News Television, who was shot by unidentified gunmen on Monday afternoon in Albay.

PNP officials pledged to deploy all available resources and interventions to prevent future violence against media workers. "We are exerting all efforts. We have introduced all interventions to protect our media practitioners, especially from crimes like this," said PNP spokesperson Col. Allen Rae in a statement regarding the incident.

The killing marks another incident in a troubling pattern of violence targeting journalists and media personalities in the Philippines. Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Loterte's death, though details about potential motives and suspects remain limited at this stage.

The incident has renewed concerns about the safety of media practitioners operating in provincial areas, where journalists often cover sensitive local issues that may attract unwanted attention. The PNP reiterated its commitment to working with media organizations and civil society groups to strengthen protections for press freedom and the safety of those working in journalism.
