PNP deploys 140,000 personnel for Undas security operations

The Philippine National Police announced a comprehensive security deployment ahead of the Undas holiday period, with operations commencing on October 30 and extending through November 2. The massive mobilization reflects heightened vigilance during one of the year's busiest times for public gatherings at cemeteries and religious sites.

According to police officials, the deployment encompasses personnel from multiple agencies to ensure public safety across the country. The PNP has committed approximately 72,501 police officers to the operation, supplemented by 16,892 additional personnel from partner security organizations. This combined force represents a coordinated effort to manage the anticipated surge in citizen movement and cemetery visitations.

The full-alert status will cover key transportation hubs, cemeteries, and high-traffic areas where large crowds are expected to converge during the traditional observance. Security measures are designed to prevent criminal activity, manage traffic flow, and respond swiftly to emergencies that may arise during the holiday period.

The PNP's operational readiness during Undas reflects ongoing efforts to maintain public order during significant national observances when millions of Filipinos typically visit family graves and participate in religious commemorations.
